Sorry about receiving another newsletter from us so soon, but we felt like this was too important of a post not to send out right away.
We are looking for anyone who would be interested in being beta readers for us. We’ve lost a few along the way, and we really value readers’ opinions before we publish our books. If you think you might be interested, here is what we are looking for:
- We need serious beta readers. We need opinions and thoughts on what you like and don’t like about our stories. We want honest answers and more than, “It was good,” sort of response. We value and really want to know what you think. For example, we have added scenes and changed how something is written because of our beta readers. We really take what you have to say to heart.
- We need honest people. Our books will come to you before it goes to our editor so that if we need to make changes and additions we can do that before our editor gets it. This means we need people we can trust not to send out these unedited copies to friends or put them on the internet. It also will require you to keep the plot and storyline to yourself. When the book is finished we will be more than happy to send you a finished copy as a thank you for all your help.
- We DO NOT need you to edit for us. Of course, if you want to point out obvious or big mistakes, we wouldn’t turn away the advice, but it is not your job to edit so no stressing over finding grammar mistakes. We want you to look at the plot, direction, and content. Are we missing something? Did we forget info from the previous books? Did we screw up someone’s eye color? Does something not make sense? Is this scene not clear? That is the kind of stuff we are looking for.
- We DO NOT need you to have previous beta reading experience. As far as we’re concerned, if you’ve read before, then you qualify. I’m sure you’ve read books, especially series, where you’ve thought the author forgot something or missed something. That’s all you have to do for us. We do prefer that you have read the first three books in the Forbidden series, though, but you probably already knew that.
Something else to note. We send out our books to our beta readers in MS Word. We don’t turn them into epubs or Mobi files until the ARCs go out. You can still read them on your phone and tablets if you don’t want to read them on your computer. We leave them in MS Word so you can use the review option and make comments to us if you need to. (You don’t have to use this, but it is a nice option so you don’t have to keep track of all your thoughts.) Hopefully, this is not a deal breaker.
If you are interested please let us know! Please email us so we can save you to our beta reader contact list.
We can’t wait to hear from you!
